The purpose of the book as stated by the authors themselves:

For those searching for an easier and more relevant way to understand the foundations of being a Christian, be they hiker or not, "The Walk's" backpacking analogies aptly describe how Christian principles were an integral part of daily life on the trail, just as they are off the trail.

We read this book in one sitting because it was inspirational, yet easy to read We love how Randy and Georgia use the trail to explain dealing with life. We feel this could be a favorite read for those wanting to hike with a purpose, or those who want to understand the teachings of Christ in every day life. It can be read many times as a way to get through challenges whether on the trail or off. We felt the desire to read with a highlighter. Randy and Georgia have the ability to speak to the reader in such a personal way.

Many people hike because of the spiritual closeness. This book is not limited to Christians. It helps explain how Christ's teaching can work for everyone. Many of the devotions through out the book can be used for people of all faiths.
