Walking the Big Wild
By Karsten Heuer
Karsten Heuer set off on a grand adventure: to move through the land as a bear or wolf might, 2,200 miles along the spine of the Rocky Mountains. This is not a trail, but an experience. We learned so much about the habits of the bears and wolves. It was refreshing to read a book written by a wildlife biologist and park warden in Canada’s Yuko Territory. We were not aware of the Y2Y Conservation Initiative and feel more committed as a web site to do all we can to make others aware of programs to help save natural habitats.
This book is not just about conservation, though. It a great adventure in areas few will travel. The joy Karsten feels towards nature and adventure is obvious with each chapter. Wouldn’t it be nice if everyone could have this creative energy?
