Pelican was founded in 1976 by Dave Parker in a Torrance, California garage. An avid Scuba diver since age 11, Parker recognized the need for rugged flashlights and cases that wouldn’t leak or fail. So he set out to build a better product than any other on the market. With years of hard work and sacrifice, Pelican™ Products became a reality with its first product patent, the Pelican Float. The legendary SabreLite™ flashlights and Protector™ Cases soon followed.
Pelican’s product line and company grew steadily over the years but 2008 was a banner year that saw Pelican Products execute an aggressive growth strategy highlighted with international expansion and acquisitions. This resulted in new sales offices and manufacturing facilities across the globe, the creation of Pelican Australia, the launch of the Advanced Area Lighting Group and exponential growth following the purchase of its nearest case competitor, Hardigg Industries, which nearly doubled the company’s size overnight and made it the largest manufacturer of equipment protection cases in the world.
This is a great, solid case designed for any 1st or 2nd generation iPod, Nano and Shuffle. While it is extremely durable it is NOT Watertight, just water resistant. It isn’t designed for swimming or submerging like many of the Pelican products. What it is, is very good at protecting your electronic equipment during rugged activities such as running, hiking, biking and so forth. It has the signature Pelican latch that both quite secure but easy to open because of it’s large design. There’s an external headphone jack to keep the case water resistant and dust proof.
Very similar in concept and design to the i1010, this case is available with a clear lid that allows you to immediately see it’s contents. It’s also crushproof, water resistant and dust proof with the outstanding Pelican Lifetime Guarantee of Excellence. Stainless steel hardware will keep this case functional for many years of rugged use.
Nemo MityLight 1900 Flashlight
This is the smallest of Pelican’s renowned series of dive lights. Unlike conventional flashlights that have a yellowish beam, the MityLite 1900 uses a hi-intensity Xenon lamp that produces a particularly powerful, bright beam to cut through thick smoke, fog, dust and murky water. The rugged Xenoy Polymer Resin body and pocket clip allow it to be submersible to 100 meters and the twist-on/twist-off shroud is easy to use even with gloves on. While designed for underwater work, this light is extremely useful for any use around the home, camp or work place. The 2 AAA alkaline cells are easy to replace and last for hours.
At 10.5 “ L x 9.7 “ W x 4.9 “ H, this is considered a “small” case for Pelican. But the relatively small size still manages to pack in all the great features of a genuine Pelican case: ultra high impact polycarbonate shell, double-throw latches, large fold down handle, stainless steel hardware, polymer O-Ring waterproof seal. This all adds up to a rugged case that’s chemical- and corrosion-resistant, watertight, airtight, dustproof and crushproof. In other words, full gear-to-go protection.
A unique feature of this and other Pelican cases is the available “pick ‘n’ pluck” foam interior cushion. Pre-scored in ½” cubes, just measure your equipment – cameras, video recorders and the like – pluck out the right dimensions and your equipment nestles in just right with the convoluted top lid foam layer. A great and easy-to-use system to secure and protect your sensitive gear. We use the 1200 to store and transport the video recorders for the website.
